The Icefields Parkway is one of the world's great drives — 232 kilometres through the heart of the Canadian Rockies, past glaciers, turquoise lakes, and mountain peaks that seem impossibly large.
The Route
The Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) runs from Lake Louise north to Jasper. The drive takes 3-4 hours without stops — but with proper exploration, 2-3 days is ideal.

Jasper National Park
Jasper is smaller and less touristy than Banff. Jasper Dark Sky Preserve is one of the world's largest, extraordinary for stargazing. Maligne Lake and Spirit Island are some of Canada's most photographed scenes.
Tips
Drive south to north (Banff to Jasper) in the morning for best light on the mountains. Book Jasper accommodation months ahead.
